Golfers will notice that the area around Cape Coral and Fort Myers is an El Dorado of opportunities to indulge in their favorite sport. The Palmetto-Pine Country Club in Cape Coral was created in 1969 and designed by Arthur Hills. The course is suitable for both novices and more experienced players. The green is considered one of the fastest in the region.

Shaded by 100-year-old oak trees, the Coral Oaks Golf Course in Cape Coral is an 18-hole course, also designed by Arthur Hills. Eight lakes and 27 bunkers provide something for every skill level.

The 18-hole Plantation Golf Course is the result of the combined efforts of Dr. Michael Hurdzan, ASGCA, and Dana Fry. Noticeable is the lack of significant differences in elevation. Another 18-hole course, the Shell Point Golf Course, can be found between Sanibel Island and Fort Myers Beach. Designed by Gordon Lewis, the course offers challenging fairways, water hazards and six tees at each hole for new and experienced players alike.A true paradise for golfers is the Verandah community with its two 18-hole courses that perfectly blend in with the existing landscape of mature oak trees and quiet waterways. The first golf course, Old Orange, was designed by golf course architect Bob Cupp and opened in 2003. The concept is an homage to classic golf courses from the 1910s and 1920s. In January 2007, the second course opened, named Whispering Oak. Designed by Jack Nicklaus and his son, Jack Nicklaus II, this spectacular range includes scenic fairways and compact greens.
